Buying An External Hard Disk
Storage has never been so cheap and easily available and will only get better in the future. Nowadays depending on your budget you can easily add an extra TB to your storage capacity with the help of an external hard drive and you can store millions of songs on it. Not just that, you could probably store about 50 high-end games on an external 1 TB hard drive that will cost just above $50. There are a lot of points to keep in mind while you are shopping for an external hard drive though.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KEEP IN MIND WHILE BUYING A HARD DISK
One of the most important specifications that you will notice when you look up external hard drives will be drive speed and most hard drives are 5,400 rpm or 7,200 rpm but which should you spend on? That depends on the kind of software that your computer supports and the kind of port that the hard drive has. If it has an USB-C type port or an USB 3.0 port then you should definitely go for the 7,200 rpm speed because that will transfer data at lightning speed compared to the 5,400 rpm drive speed. Whereas if the port is a USB 2.0 type port then you should prefer storage over drive speed.
There are other things to remember that are portability and most hard drives are 3.5 inches but you will find some which are even smaller and can be carried inside your pocket. If you are planning to use the hard drive all throughout the day then you should also look for something that comes with a fan and won’t get heated. You should also check if the external hard drive is compatible with your device or not and how much cloud data does it provide you because that will be a great backup.
